Driveway Surfacing In Plymouth

Need resin driveways in Plymouth? We carry out resin bound and resin bonded driveway surfacing in Plymouth and across the city, from the terraced streets of Mutley, Peverell and Stoke to the Victorian villas of Mannamead and the suburbs of Plympton and Plymstock. Alongside driveways we lay paths, patios and balconies.

Plymouth is a hilly city, and many homes have short, steep frontages or a drive cut into the slope above the road. Resin is well suited to that. It bonds the stone into a single surface, gives good grip in wet weather and drains freely, so rainwater soaks away instead of running down the hill.

Each project starts with a free site survey by a qualified surveyor. Where the existing base is solid, an overlay is often the quickest route. Otherwise we carry out a full build. We also take on commercial surfacing and offer resin cleaning and replenishment for surfaces that need a refresh.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. Resin bound surfaces are permeable, so the rain that sweeps in off Plymouth Sound drains straight through instead of sitting on the surface or running down the street. That makes it SUDS-compliant and a practical choice for the city.

Yes. Lots of homes in the city sit on steep streets, and resin bound stone is a good fit because the aggregate is bound in place. It won’t wash downhill, and the textured finish grips well underfoot and for tyres.

Yes. Resin is mixed and laid by hand, so it works well on compact terraced frontages and awkward shapes. Your surveyor will measure up and check access during the free survey.

Often, yes. If the concrete or tarmac is sound, we can lay an overlay on top. If it is cracked or unstable, we will recommend a full build instead.

Installed and maintained properly, a resin surface lasts for many years. We use UK-manufactured resins and good quality aggregates, and every installation is backed by our 10-year guarantee.

Yes. It gives a smooth, continuous, slip-resistant finish that is easy for prams, wheelchairs and walking aids. We can add an anti-slip coating for extra grip if you want it.

Resin Surfacing For Plymouth's Hills And Terraces

Plymouth’s city centre was largely rebuilt after the Blitz, and the city mixes older stone and brick terraces with post-war housing and plenty of modern development around the edges. Front gardens are often small, and many have been turned into parking over the years. A resin bound finish makes a tidy, hard-wearing parking space without the cracked concrete or loose gravel that tends to end up on the pavement.

On the steeper streets, resin holds firm and gives a textured grip for feet and tyres. It can be laid neatly around steps, manhole covers and boundary walls, which matters on a tight frontage where every inch is used.

Weather off Plymouth Sound can be wet and windy for much of the year, so a permeable surface is a practical choice. You can choose a natural stone blend to suit the city’s older terraces or a cleaner, lighter tone for a newer home. Our guide to resin driveway ideas and our colour options are a good place to start.

Our Plymouth Installation Process

Your free site survey is carried out by a qualified surveyor, not a salesperson. They will check access, parking and the existing base, then recommend an overlay or a full build. Our guide to resin driveway installation times explains what to expect.

Resin needs very little looking after. A sweep keeps leaves and grit off, and an occasional soft clean keeps it looking fresh. Our maintenance service can add anti-slip coating and UV-protective sealant to help extend the life of the surface. If you are still weighing up materials, our driveway comparison guide may help.

All installations come with our 10-year guarantee. We also work in Kingsbridge, Totnes and Okehampton, over the Tamar in Launceston, and throughout Devon. Take a look at our gallery for recent work.
